Sqirl

Unassuming sign.

It's Saturday morning in East Hollywood.  Your Friday night was fun, but long and filled with many beverages of the alcoholic variety.  And now, you're hungry, very hungry.

Luckily, there are many great places in the [E. Hollywood/ Silverlake] area that offer delicious, comfort food.  But Sqirl -- Sqirl tops them all.  Thank you, Jessica Koslow.  More on Sqirl's story here.

Open-face Brioche Toast -- kale, tomatillo puree, hot sauce, fried egg, with a side of prosciutto -- $11

Breakfast menu, broken down to sweet & savory.

Massive quiche.

Almond Milk Cappuccino -- $5.50
Pricey, but worth it!

Kokohu Rose Brown Rice Porridge with Straus milk, toasted hazelnuts, fig jam -- $6.50 (vegan/ gluten-free)

YUM.

Burnt Brioche Toast with house ricotta & seasonal jam -- $7 (vegan)

You're probably wondering why anyone would pay money to eat burnt toast.  Well, topped with ricotta, jam, or even nut butter (see below), it is so very worth it.

Burnt Brioche Toast with Chocolate Ganache, Nut Butter, Fleur de Sel -- $6.75 (vegan)

Scrambled eggs with bacon and lard biscuits.

Lard biscuits.

The food is as heavenly as it looks, but the eating area is tiny and even feels make-shift.  If you don't mind possibly bumping shoulders with a fellow diner, then you'll have no problem.  If you do mind, you should try to forgo those luxuries and chow down on what will most likely bring a huge smile to your face.  Sometimes, that's all you can expect from a good brunch.

Bakery and store with Sqirl jams and other goodies.

Open kitchen where the ladies get down and busy.

Go check them out!
