Le Cafe de la Marraine*

* Translate to English for real name of the restaurant.

Usually I'm very eager to share good eateries with you, but for some reason, I'm less inclined to write about this one (enter: selfish tendencies). My hesitance stems from my belief that this is, without a doubt, one of Malibu's best kept secrets (at least in terms of food). But because I only have love for my faithful readers, I shall reveal it... but remember, only to you and only just this once, so feel special. (In turn, please "like" my Facebook page if you haven't done so already - thanks!)

At first glance, this place is just another restaurant at a tennis club. But true gems are always worth more than one glance. Besides, it won't be difficult for me to convince you.

(1) Nestled between tennis courts and on the rolling 'bu hills, this outdoor patio cafe seats less than 30 people: it's intimate.
(2) Because most Malibuians (Malibuers?) trek over to the Country Mart or the Lumberyard for midday nosh, there aren't too many patrons: it's special.
(3) Pretty stone fountains and lush trees: it's peaceful.
(4) The menu is not overwhelmingly extensive and there is a good variety of choices: it's well-balanced.
(5) The meal is on the pricier end, but the service is phenomenal!

Now, the best persuader of them all...
