Super Sergio's (SD)

** To my Google Reader subscribers, I am ashamed of the huge error I made earlier today. I hope my credibility doesn't die forever. Next time, I promise to do a better job proof-reading. If you have no idea what I'm taking about, read on because this time I got it right! Gracias! **

Some people believe that good food only exist at fancy, 3 Michelin-star, non-chain restaurants. Boy, are they wrong.

Super Sergio's is not fancy, will most likely never earn even one Michelin star, and has three different locations in the Greater San Diego area. And yet it is one of my favorite places to go grab some carne or pollo asada fries, pretty much at any time of the day.

Carne or Pollo Asada Fries. One order = a take-out box filled to the brim with crispy fries, fully loaded with deliciously-marinated carne asada and plenty of guac and melted cheese. Wash everything down with a cup of horchata and you'll feel ready to conquer the rest of SD... with a nap on the beach first.

Carne Asada (California burrito), how I love thee.

And while I have SD in my mind, in my humble opinion:

Best tacos: Tacos El Gordolink }
Quite simply, the best tacos I've had this side of the border. Hands down.
Best California burrito: Lolita's Taco Shop { link }

A burrito is so much more than some meat and dressings tossed and wrapped haphazardly in a flour tortilla. A proper burrito is assembled with plenty of juicy meat, equal proportions of guac, cheese, sour cream, hot sauce, potato (whatever else you request), and snuggly wrapped in a soft, warm, tortilla pillow. In short, Lolita's does it right.
