Daikokuya

Best comfort food that comes in noodle form: Ramen.
Best place to grab a bowl in Downtown LA: Daikokuya.

The only qualm I have about this place is that the space is way too small! But I guess it gains points by being as authentic as a Japanese noodle stand in LA can get.

Aside from the fact that the egg noodles retain perfect texture (firm and chewy), the broth does an excellent job of soothing every inch of your stomach -- so rich and flavorful. The Kurobuta pork belly is so moist is just falls apart with one quick poke of your chopsticks. The marinated boiled egg (a full one!) and the extra garlic toppings just adds to the win.

Ramen Jinya, you are good, but Daikokuya will still be my first love.
