La Estrella

A decent Mexican food joint is a dime a dozen here in Southern California. But a solid, authentic place where the cashier only speaks Spanish and all the patrons are either related or know each other through family, is a diamond in the dust. Or a star in the smoggy sky: La Estrella.

My friend C and I stuck out like sore thumbs, but rather than feeling uncomfortable, I relished on the guarantee that I was going to be fed, and be fed well. C ordered the "Taco Special," which included two tacos w/ any meat of your choice (excluding seafood) with beans and rice ($3.99). I ordered 2 fish tacos ($3 each), thinking they were going to be sope-sized. Nope. Not only was the fried fish fresh, but the fish to other ingredient/sauce ratio was perfect.

Next time I shall conquer the burrito. Yumz.

After dinner we went to 21 choices. Naturally.
