Sushi Enya

Located in the heart of Little Tokyo, Sushi Enya boasts a lengthy menu of innovative rolls set at affordable prices and served in very generous portions.  If you've always been hesitant to try raw fish, Sushi Enya may be the place to introduce your palate to the one food I could never live without.  The only thing scary will be the amount of rolls you'll finish by yourself.  Of course you won't realize this until about 10 minutes after you've cleaned all plates and overeater's remorse sinks in.

Sit at the sushi bar or at a table.

Salmon Sashimi with Wasabi Tobiko -- $10

We started with the Salmon Sashimi appetizer.  Each of the six slices of salmon was topped with a wasabi tobiko. Tobiko is raw roe (aka - fish eggs).  But there's nothing fishy about its taste.  In fact, I couldn't really taste the wasabi flavor either.  You can choose to dip each sashimi piece in the garlic + soy sauce-based sauced, but just a squirt of lemon was all I needed.

Chef's Special #2 -- $12.50

We then ordered two premium rolls: the Chef's Special #2 and Albacore with Fried Onion.

Just look at the portions!  Each roll is not too thick, but 12 roll slices in total!  Granted, that still comes out to about a $1/ cut roll, but we've got a lot going on here.  Inside the Chef's Special #2, there is spicy tuna and sprimp tempura.  On the outside of the roll, there is unagi, avocado, green onion, and sesame seeds.  Underneath the roll is chili oil and eel sauce.

Albacore w/ Fried Onion -- $12.50

The albacore with fried onion was also delicious.  Inside, there is "krab" salad (as in, artificial crab meat) and shrimp tempura.  Outside, there is albacore, avocado, fried onion, and sesame seeds.  And a nice spicy garlic ponzu sauce on the bottom of the roll.

All of these ingredients in, on, around the roll may be a bit too much for the purist sushi eater, but once in awhile, a sushi party in your mouth is acceptable.  So check out Sushi Enya for your quick and easy, but also delicious sushi fix!  Please take note of their hours, though!  Specifically, they're closed Mondays.  Bon appetit!
