Pier Burger

There's a new burger joint in Santa Monica, folks.  But it's located on the Santa Monica Pier.  Now before you tune out, especially if you're an Angeleno like me and typically have an adverse reaction to anything related to the SM Pier (too touristy, too kitschy, too crowded, etc.), let me add that you'll be guaranteed a solid burger meal for around $10.

Now that I've gained your attention, allow me to introduce you to...

Burgers on the pier. Hence, Pier Burger.  So creative, they are... not.  But no matter what you think of their name, they serve some pretty damn tasty burgers, and that's all that really matters.

The menu is straight-forward: burgers, hot dogs, sandwiches and fries...

Beverages (sorry, non-alcoholic), annnnnd frozen custard!

We opted for the double Pier Burger with a pound of fries.  My friend got his with bacon.  I should've gotten mine with bacon too.  Sometimes I try to fool myself into thinking I eat healthy.  It's silly.  Next time.

Now, please tell me the burger doesn't look like those served at Shake Shack.  Well, guess what; they taste like them too... except better!  The griddled meat patties are thick and juicy and all the other ingredients blends quite nicely without one overpowering the other.  The skinny-cut fries remind me of In N Out fries, except crispier (pro) and saltier (con).

Pier Burger has the best of both Coasts coming together in one meal.  Oh, and did I mention the restaurant's on the pier, in Santa Monica, by the beautiful Pacific Ocean?  Best of all, I walked away without feeling like a total grease ball glutton.  Pier Burger, I'm willing to brave the crowds to return to my new fave "roadside"/ "beachside" burger in West LA.  Please get your beer license soon!

DELICIOUS.

And if you don't feel like eating red meat, they have chicken and veggie sandwiches, too!  Something for the whole family.  So, what are you waiting for?
