White Chili with Ground Turkey

It's raining, it's pouring,
what's Mama D cookin'?
White Chili, toniiiight.

Instead of knocking back shots with my fellow comrades after an ugly midterm experience, I went straight home to cook up a pot of hot chili. After all, a delicious bowl of white chili, paired with a Sam Adams Boston Lager (on the side), can only bring smiles all around.

White Chili with Ground Turkey via All Recipes { original recipe }

Ingredients
  • 1/2 white onion, diced
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 1/2 lb. ground turkey
  • 1 1/2 tbsp. olive oil
  • 3/4 small can canned green chile peppers, diced
  • 3/4 small can canned jalapenos, diced
  • 1 tbsp. ground cumin
  • 1 tbsp. dried oregano
  • 1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon
  • 2 good sprinkle-shakes of ground cayenne pepper
  • black pepper and sea salt, to taste
  • 3 15oz. cans of cannellini beans
  • 4 cups of chicken broth*
  • 2 cups shredded cheese

*If you want a thicker chili, reduce the broth to 3 cups (or your liking).

Instructions
  1. In a large pot, saute garlic and onions in olive oil for a few minutes. Add the ground turkey and saute until the meat is browned.
  2. Add the diced chile peppers and jalapenos and the rest of the spices. Let everything fuse together for a few minutes.
  3. Add 2 cans of beans and chicken broth to the pot. Take the 3rd can and puree it in a food processor or a blender. Add the puree into the pot with the cheese.
  4. Stir well and allow chili to simmer and cheese to melt.
  5. Ladle and serve!

Like most chilis, it'll probably taste better tomorrow, but it doesn't taste too shabby tonight (especially since it was my first time).

Bon Appetit!

Food for Thought:
I feel like men are more romantic than women. When we get married we marry, like, one girl 'cause we're resistant the whole way until we meet one girl and we think I'd be an idiot if I didn't marry this girl, she's so great. But it seems like girls get to a place where they just kind of pick the best option. 'Oh he's got a good job.' I mean, they spend their whole life looking for Prince Charming and then they marry the guy who's got a good job and is gonna stick around.
