Tacos Por Favor!

The "best tacos on the Westside"?

After hearing rave reviews about this hole-in-the-wall joint, I dragged my fellow foodie friend for a "snack." (Al, I didn't tell you, but I actually had lunch beforehand. "McFatty" is my unofficial middle name).

For you skeptics out there, I have to admit I too, was wary when I saw "healthy" and "Mexican" in the same sentence. Rest assured, all that means is they use corn oil, not lard. They also use real chicken, and other real fresh ingredients -- things that I cannot vouch for on Mexican taco trucks, at least the OG ones (and yet even knowing that doesn't keep me away, hm...).

They do breakfast too! Breakfast burrito run anyone?

Hard taco (carnitas); Soft taco (carne asada) - $5
I'm not typically a hard-shell kind of girl, but I really liked the hard taco more so than the soft. That said, the carne asada blows the carnitas out of the water for two main reasons: more moist and better marinated. Also, the flavors of the well-portioned sour cream and guac, snuggled together beneath the bed of freshly-grated cheese just made my tastebuds more excited. Both, however, lived up to their standards.

Nice portions

The Mahi Mahi fried in light, buttery batter (not pictured) is also a good choice.
Other notable items include carne asada burrito, tortas, and cheese enchiladas... all for very affordable prices!

The best part though, is the fact that I can bike here in less than 10 min. Gotta love Santa Monica. :)
