Honor Bar

When most people think of Beverly Hills, they think of fancy cars, haute couture, and upscale restaurants.  Most of the factors of a high-rollin' lifestyle are true, but there are also a handful of affordable gems scattered throughout the aflluent city.  Take Honor Bar, for example.

The Honor Bar is a part of the Hillstone Restaurant family, but it's unlike Hillstone, Houston's, and R+D Kitchen in both prices and vibe.  By the way, the Honor Bar is adjacent to the South Beverly Grill, another Hillstone entity.

Being a Hillstone Restaurant, I checked out the Honor Bar with high expectations, but in a surprising twist, these expectations were met. The Honor Bar provides a cool and classy, yet unpretentious, atmosphere to enjoy live jazz music, watch sports, and/ or converse with friends and co-workers over food and drinks after a grueling day at work.  The only downside is that the space is small and seating is limited.

Toni's Marinated Olives -- green and kalamata olives w/ roasted almonds -- $5

Hand-cut French Fries with two dipping sauces (ketchup and a tangy mustard) -- $5

Although the menu includes everything from marinated olives to tabbouleh and sushi to tortas, the thing to order is the Honor Burger.  But if you don't like coleslaw, get the Crispy Chicken Sandwich (not pictured) because the burger is served with a very generous helping of cabbage slaw in the burger.  If you do like coleslaw, you'll fall in love with this burger. (I really enjoyed this burger).

Honor Burger -- shredded cabbage, tomato, pickles, Cheddar, on housemade bun -- $11

The coleslaw has a lot of sauce, so be ready to use a couple of napkins.  But with a juicy patty enveloped in a fluffy bun, the Honor Burger is good enough to make it on my LA's Best Burger list.

Go check it out for yourself!
