Famine in East Africa

It may seem odd for me to write about famine, starvation, and malnutrition on a platform that typically explains my ever-so-gluttonous eating habits and indulgent culinary ways.  But in the same vein, it may be all the more appropriate.

Do you know what's happening in East Africa right now?
How tens of thousands of people -- mainly women and children -- are suffering in some of the most painful ways, ways we may always be too fortunate to fully experience or understand?

Reading article after article and watching video after video of the "world's largest refugee camp" breaks my heart to its core. Thankfully the world, despite its share of problems, is responding to this urgent life v. death call for help.  I'm especially glad that the U.S. has placed its ugly debt issues aside for a moment 'cause sometimes, it's really not all about us.

What can you do? { link | link } You can pledge money, participate in a Fast-A-Thon, pray, and stay informed.  I plan to do all of the above.  Join me, to help save humanity.  [ video ]

  1. I am so glad you posted this. Sometimes people are not gutsy enough to potentially darken or ruin another person's day but we all need to know. The LEAST we can do is be overly grateful for all that we have. Thanks for the links to give as well!
